Tiburon Yacht Club supports boating safety!

In honor of National Safe Boating Week, we are asking our members to please wear their life jackets. Send us a pictureof yourself and/or your shipmates wearing a personal flotation device and you will be included in a drawing for a free Friday night dinner during our Summer racing season.

Submissions will be featured on the TYC Facebook page, helping us show our local boating community that TYC supports safe boating practices.

In 2019, the U.S. Coast Guard reported that 86% of drowning victims were not wearing a life jacket. Tiburon Yacht Club wants to help reverse this statistic. Life jackets should be worn at all times on the water, even for salty dogs! There are many different options and colors that work for the boating activity of your choice – cruising, racing, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding. It’s normal, expected, and even be comfortable to wear a life jacket.

Help TYC usher in the summer boating season by encouraging your shipmates to always wear a life jacket when on or near the water. It could save a life.

We'd like to see what wearing a life jacket looks like on you – it could even get you a free dinner!

    Best Day Ever!

At least that's how it felt to me seeing so many members on the deck enjoying each others company and a delicious breakfast cooked by my kids, Ed and Joe.

It was a beautiful day and we were shaded from the sun by six new umbrellas the club purchased just for this type of occasion. We even had a nice sun shade for the volunteers who were serving. A quick thank you to the board for deciding this was a good thing.

Speaking of volunteers, I had so much help setting up, serving, breaking down, that something I saw as difficult became joyful. Every volunteer deserves a huge hug and THANK YOU!

Now that we have our first event done, we see we can get together, we can be an open club again. I hope to see all of you soon as we move past this last year of difficulty and look forward to fun events we have enjoyed over the years.

    As always…Fair Winds
